Questionable merchant policy costs students

Popular food stops including Starbucks and Union Market are asking students to spend a minimum amount in order to use their debit cards

Any student who tries to purchase anything from Starbucks under $3 with their debt card may have an unpleasant surprise. As of April 1, 2009 customers need to spend a minimum of $3 in order to use their Visa, MasterCard or Discover. Starbucks is not the only one enforcing the new regulation: Zee's, Union Market and the Burger Zone have also implemented the new guidelines.

Phi Beta Sigmas sleep out in aid of homeless

The Iota Beta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma will be holding their Sleep Out for the Homeless event Thursday, April 9. The event, which was created to help members of the fraternity empathize with the homeless, was started by a chapter of Phi Beta Sigma in Michigan 20 years ago.

Spoken-word duo pair up for UA show

On Tuesday, April 7, spoken-word duo Death From Below performed at the Student Union Starbucks. This event was sponsored by the Residence Hall Programming Board, Zips Programming Network, Residence Hall Council and Starbucks. Dan Sullivan and Tim Stafford met in their hometown of Chicago and began performing together in 2004.
