Domenik Hixon promoted the University of Akron when he appeared in a commercial for UA on the heels of the football program's first Mid-American Championship in 2005. The commercial spot debuted during the second half of Super Bowl XL. On Sunday, Hixon and Chase Blackburn, a senior defensive captain for the Zips in 2004, will promote UA in a different manner.
Construction has begun on InfoCision Stadium. Rather, deconstruction has commenced for the old East residence quad. According to VP for Capital Planning, Ted Curtis, the university tore down four residence halls on Friday and Saturday: Brown Street, Joey, Wallaby and Wallaroo.
Sometimes it appears as though students are angrily honking their horns and darting around UA parking lots like cowboys in a gunfight trying to find an available parking space. It's pandemonium: every driver for themselves. Even Parking Services agrees that parking can be hard sometimes.
David M. Walker, Comptroller General of the United States, was welcomed to the University of Akron Tuesday. The Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Economics welcomed and sponsored Walker to speak at E. J. Thomas Hall as part of his Fiscal Wake-Up Tour.
