Six victims were reportedly injured during a shooting Saturday at a party in the 600 block of Sherman Street south of campus.
The shooting happened at an off-campus fraternity party. According to a story by the Plain Dealer, six suspects were arrested early Saturday.
The party was held in a house that did not have official fraternity connections. The Plain Dealer reported that all victims were shot in either the leg or buttocks. It is also believed that the shooter retrieved the gun from his car and was from the Cleveland area. Akron police said that only one person fired a gun in the incident.
The suspects have been identified as Cordell Midgett-Crosby, 20, Adrian Simmon, 20, and Lovell White, 23, all from the Cleveland area. Frank Clardy and Darrel Crosby, both 20, from South Euclid and Arturo Norris, 23, of Bedford Heights were also allegedly involved.
The victims were taken to Akron hospitals and their conditions were unknown but reported as not being life-threatening. The victims were said to be Marcus Jackson, 18, of Maple Heights, Henry Moore, 21, of Cleveland, Mark Wall, 23, of Warrensville Heights, along with Jerome Davis, 41, Charles Hearn, 20, and Darchaun Ewing, all from Akron.
Alcohol was allegedly served at the party. The University of Akron stated that the party was not sanctioned and is in no way tied to the University.
